I'm pleased to announce the following on the forum: the upcoming Obscure Band of the Month! We all know a band or two that's, unfortunately, relatively little known. So, beginning October 1st, an obscure band very few have heard of will be featured on the forum for an entire month. Hopefully by doing so we can get them some more listeners, or at the very least spread the word about them. So, keep an eye out! ;)

OK I don't know anything about this band other then it has a far out name Acid Arab combine electronic beats with North African and Middle Eastern melody and repetition. It’s an exciting mix that could sound like some popularized version of world music for yuppies, but it’s actually varied and thrilling throughout Musique de France. The two Parisian DJ’s collabarate with musicians from many countries and this contributes to the lively, surprising genre-mixing throughout their work. This record will keep you energized and alert. With “Gul l’Abi”, they utilize the talents of Yemenite vocalists A-WA who repeats rousing chants that interplay well with the programmed beats. It’s work like this that reminds the listener of the possibilities inherent to electronic music in its engagement with diverse genres and music theory. Dance music has seemed to be more flexible in its embracing of radically different melodic structures across cultures than rock, or even hip-hop, have been able to do. It’s a reminder of two of the most universal of human experiences across all cultures and time: to sing and to dance. Acid Arab – Gul l’Abi (mp3)

Bernays Propaganda continue to evolve musically, and on their fourth album, Politika, shift from more guitar dominated textures and riffage to a driving indietronic sound. Named after and in protest of the father of PR, Sigmund Freud’s nephew, Edward Bernays, Macedonian’s Bernays Propaganda take the media manipulation and sensory seduction head-on, with biting socio-political lyrics and a relentless groove, that may get you to break free from the shackles of mind control and think and feel for yourself – and dancing at the same time!Find out more about Bernays Propaganda on their Facebook page, and watch their latest video, for “Povekje”, below.
