Member Profile Covers
Using the Navigation Bar
- There is a floating dark brown navigation bar that goes transparent when you scroll to the top of a page. It has two dropdowns: "Site Info" and, when logged in, "Hello, [username]".
- Clicking on the "Site Info" dropdown will reveal a description of the forum, eight links to pages on the forum, two images, and a credit for the author of this forums theme.
- Clicking on the "Hello, [username]" dropdown will reveal your profile options.
- The bell icon is where you will see notification alerts. If there is an alert, clicking on the bell will take you to the notification tab of your profile. If there is no alert, clicking on the bell will do nothing.
- The calendar icon is, of course, the calendar. Only members and staff can view the calendar.
- The magnifying glass icon is the search function.
- The three horizontal white bars, when clicked, reveal a dropdown featuring recent threads, recent posts, and participated.
Your Profile
- To access your profile, click the 'Hello, [username]" dropdown. To view your profile, click "Profile". To edit your profile, click "Edit Profile".
- The ideal avatar size is 200x200. To change your avatar, go to Edit Settings, then Avatar. Click on Uploaded/Linked.
- To logout, click the "Hello, [username]" dropdown. It will be the last option.
- If there is a dot next to a member's username, they are online. If there is no dot, they are offline.
Themes
- Members can choose from two themes in Edit Profile. Themes are essentially a skin for the entire forum, and they each have their own pros and cons.
- The Breathe theme by Elli from Twicebaked is the default skin for the forum, and is also what all guests see. Elli did a great job here; it looks gorgeous and is much snappier than the ProBoards Default, but some features like containers for scavenger hunts are not visible in this theme.
- The Default theme is the more simplified ProBoards skin for the board. It's more familiar and navigable, but some features like profile cover images are not available in this theme.
- Whichever theme you choose, choose the one you're most comfortable with.
Your Messages
- To access your messages or PMs, click the "Hello, [username]" dropdown. Next click "Messages". This will take you to your inbox.
- There are three dropdown options in your inbox as well as a search bar.
- The "inbox" dropdown allows you to switch between your inbox, outbox, and archive. The "select" dropdown allows you to select all, none, new, or read messages. The "actions" dropdown allows you to manage labels, as well as archive or delete all of your messages.
The Leveling System
- Newcomer: Anyone with less than 25 posts. Empty blue bar.
- Junior Member: Has between 25 and 100 posts. Blue bar that gradually fills up at 50, 75 and 100 posts.
- Full Member: Between 100 and 299 posts. At 200 posts blue bar changes into an empty gold bar that gradually fills up with every 25th post.
- Senior Member: Between 300 and 999 posts. At 600 posts gold bar changes into an empty rainbow bar that gradually fills up with every hundredth post.
- Esteemed Member. Over 5000 posts. The rainbow bar changes into an animated rainbow bar.
- Administrator and moderators have simple red bars.
Quoting and Editing
- The quoting and editing options will be at the bottom of your posts.
- You can also quote multiple people. In order to properly multiquote, click on the little gear icon on the first post you want to quote. The gear icon is located at the bottom of the post for members using the Breathe theme, and for members using the default ProBoards theme, it's located at the top. Click it, then click Select Post.
- Do likewise for every post you want quoted in your reply. Now click Reply, and all the posts you've selected will be quoted in the reply box.
LOLing at a Post
- Now you can LOL at a post as well as like it. If a post strikes you as particularly hilarious, you can click the rolling smiley, situated before the "like" heart.
Member Profile Covers
- Now you can customize your profile pages even further. A profile cover image is the background wallpaper for your profile pages information window.
Here's how to set yours up. - Click on Profile > Edit Profile > Personal
- Copy and paste the URL for the background of your choice into the Profile Cover Image field
- Save your change
- Go back to Profile and check out your new, even more personalized page.
- Note - this feature is only available on the forums default Breathe theme.
