Sadly no sound, but we get to see Big Brother & the Holding Company with Janis of course, the Jefferson Airplane, then the Grateful Dead.

Ugh, taken down, but at least it's back up. Here: Folk Rock Festival 1968 in San Jose, California. Let's see who's all here! I see Janis and Big Brother, then Grace and the Airplane pop up at 0:55. The band at 1:30 was ID'd as the Transatlantic Railroad by their bass player in the comments, and the one at 3:20 was ID'd as the Youngbloods by their guitarist Lowell Levinger. More info on the Northern California Folk Rock Festival: Northern California Folk-Rock Festival (1968)

That was quite an event, wasn't it? Too bad there is no sound. I love the design of that poster.

How odd - I went searching for a bootleg of Jefferson Airplane's setlist, since surely someone in the audience taped it. I went to SugarMegs, a site for taped concerts that's been around for ages, and I thought I'd found it, as it was labeled 1968 5-18 Shrine NC Folk Festival... but then I saw the setlist, and it was described as Jefferson Airplane 1968-05-18 Shrine Nassau Community College Folk Festival pt1. Nassau Community College is located in New York. The only other set from May 18, 1968 is, aside from pt 2, from the Shrine Exhibition Hall in Los Angeles. Oh well! I did find a video on YouTube purporting to be the Airplane at San Jose. I'll have to listen to it in full later. It's 26 minutes long:

And whoa I'm amazed there are so many tapes and I wonder why I couldn't even find this site! Thanks for telling us about it and I will listen to this Airplane's San Jose concert before I go to bed today

I did find a video on YouTube purporting to be the Airplane at San Jose. I'll have to listen to it in full later. It's 26 minutes long: Finished listening to the whole thing, so here's the setlist: Greasy Heart Fat Angel Star Track Won't You Try/Saturday Afternoon Somebody To Love i'm going to check out the three May 18 1968 shows on SugarMegs and see if I can find this exact 26 minute performance in any of them... if not, then this just may be it. Or just an excuse to listen to a lot of Airplane - who knows I didn't know there was a site called SugarMegs... And whoa I'm amazed there are so many tapes and I wonder why I couldn't even find this site! Thanks for telling us about it and I will listen to this Airplane's San Jose concert before I go to bed today SugarMegs is an amazing site. You're welcome!
