Not sure if there are any bluegrass fans around these parts, so I won't post the hardcore stuff yet. Here's a couple with a softer sound from a progressive bluegrass band that I really like by the name of Nickel Creek. They were mainly active in past years, but I think they're still together and touring some.

I've never really followed Bluegrass music, but I've always been impressed with their virtuosity, particularly on the banjo, mandolin, and fiddle.

Tell me about it! The level of mastery they have over their instruments is often so superb. Great thread, can't wait for more

I sure will. Glad you liked it! Here is one of my favorite instrumentals. I love banjo! I thought it was Bill Evans (a jazz pianist), but I realized this was a different Bill Evans haha! It is cool

It is cool Yes, that is confusing. I've run into this problem when searching for music by Bill, the banjoist (who should probably consider a name change.) And speaking of Bill, the pianist, those are some really nice sounds—haven't heard much aside from samples, but I'm going to have to check him out.

Oh I really once thought Bill Evans (a jazz pianist) could play the banjo and released his banjo album lol. I thought, “how versatile he is!” hahaha! But this Bill Evans is also great so I hope many people will listen to his songs!

I just suddenly remembered a bluegrass tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd I'd heard a few years ago. This is their bluegrass cover of Free Bird.

Very nice! Here's another instrumental, an old traditional fiddle tune, Katy Hill, performed by fiddle virtuoso Bobby Hicks, along with some good work by Rob McCoury on banjo, Bryan Sutton on guitar, and Ronnie McCoury on mandolin. This one seems to wind up more and more as it goes along.
