Oh, were you going to post a thread about it? Where did you see it? On Netflix? That's where I watched the documentary.

No. I watched that in a movie theater in Shibuya, Tokyo last week. The theater was quite small, but rlly packed! Did you see that on Netflix? Wow. I don't subscribe Netflix, but that sounds great!

Oh, I didn't know they were showing it in theaters over there! I know they showed it in theaters in the States (and if I remember correctly at the Cannes Festival?), but I couldn't attend. That's nice to hear it played to a full house.
Netflix has quite a few music related documentaries on there - about Muscle Shoals, Bob Weir from the Grateful Dead, the Eagles, Journey, Keith Richards, and I'm sure loads more. There's also two miniseries on there about the 60s and the 70s, and I watched the music related episodes from them.

Yes, it is showing right now all over Japan. I watched other music related movies/documentary in a movie theater, like Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, Kurt Cobain's "Montage of Heck," Brian Wilson's "Love And Mercy," Sly Stone's documentary, the Who's Live at Hyde Park....
And Yeah, Little Girl Blue was shown at Cannes. When I heard about that, I wished I could watch that! But thanks God I could.
Netflix isn't big here (sure I've heard of it), but instead cable TV channels are popular, so my family subscribed cable TV channels. And one of these include some music channels like MTV and Music Air. Music Air mostly broadcast classic music programs. So I watched most of the documentaries on music air.

That's great!
I thought it was an excellent documentary. I watched it with my dad. I came away a bigger Janis fan, and feeling like I'd been given a glimpse into what made her tick.

Same! I felt sympathy for Janis. But one of the things that piqued my interest was there was a conlict between LA musicians and SF musicians lol.
I didn't know they hated each other so much.

Same. I figured that the L.A. and San Francisco music scenes were very different, but I didn't expect that level of rivalry.
My heart broke at her early years. Especially at the fact that the teasing continued into college (such as the story about her being voted "ugliest man on campus"). That really got my blood boiling.

Yeah, and it made me rlly sad when everybody ignored her at her high school reunion party. I have been a fan of her since I was ten bc I think she overcame so many things (including bullying). She inspired me so much and I think it's freakin' awesome that she dedicated her entire life to music.

Well, in the end, it's Janis who made it big and is still admired (and still attracts new fans!) to this day, while the people who tormented her are long forgotten in the dustbin of history. And yeah, especially while watching/listening her perform live, I can just feel the spirit emanating from her as she gave it all in every song she sang.

That's right! She became a legend. She was remembered and admired. And I'm sure she will.
I felt she poured her soul into her music when she sung.
It was overwhelming even if I only watched her performance on a movie screen.
